A Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr Katch Ononuju has stated reasons why Southern members of the party calling for the resignation of the national chairman of the party, Senator Iyorchia Ayu, cannot wait until after the 2023 general elections to see a change of the national chairman of the party.
He gave the reasons during an interview with Deji Badmus on TV360.
He said it will be difficult for them to convince the people of the South to vote for the PDP if they cannot show them that they are representing their interest in the party.
He said, “our people have told us, we will not be able to speak to them if we do not represent their interests. And that currently in the PDP, they want to see signs that they are part and parcel (of the party). Those of us that want to represent ourselves may simply cut private deals, but no, the South needs to be carried along in the PDP.”
“Let the South not stay away and allow the nepotism that has become standard in the APC to now be carried over to the PDP. So we want to be able to tell our people that we are part and parcel of the party, that we also represent their interests and that this is what is given to us on behalf of them. That’s the problem. How can you convince them to vote.”
