Wike Finally Breaks Silence, Reveals When His Support for Tinubu Will End
Wike Finally Speaks, Reveals When He’ll Stop Supporting Tinubu

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has finally spoken on his political stand and when his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will come to an end.
Wike made it clear that his loyalty to President Tinubu remains firm and will continue “till 2031.”
This declaration puts to rest speculations suggesting that the former Rivers State governor might contest the 2027 presidential election.
In a statement released on Saturday by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, Wike dismissed claims that some leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) were mounting pressure on him to run for president.
Olayinka described the reports as “another lie from idle minds who have nothing to contribute to the development of the country.”
The Minister’s spokesman accused those behind the story of trying to create political confusion and distract the minister from his duties in the FCT.
According to him, “The Minister has made it clear where he stands as long as the 2027 presidential election is concerned — he is with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”
Olayinka further stated that “as far as Wike is concerned, it is President Bola Ahmed Tinubu till 2031.”
He added that the minister “does not function in hiding. He does what he says and says what he does.”
However, the statement also addressed claims that a meeting was held by PDP leaders to “push” Wike into the 2027 race.
Olayinka clarified that the only meeting held on August 20, 2025, was that of southern PDP stakeholders, which had nothing to do with any presidential ambition.
He explained that the meeting’s outcome was already made public through a statement signed by party leaders from the South-East and South-South regions, including state chairmen, lawmakers, and national officers.
Olayinka insisted that the minister remains focused on delivering President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda through infrastructure and policy reforms in the FCT.
“Wike will continue to deliver on the Renewed Hope Agenda by actualising the President’s vision for a world-class capital city,” he said.
He also noted that those spreading false stories about the minister’s ambition were only wasting their time, stressing that Nigerians already know Wike’s character.
