After a very intense 2022/23 season, we have now reached the end of the season with the champions of each league now known to us. Alongside this, most of Europe’s top five leagues have also announced the winners of their Player of the Season awards.
In the English Premier League, it was crystal clear that Manchester City star, Erling Haaland was the frontrunner to win the Player of the Season award after finishing the season with 36 league goals. The Norwegian striker also won the Young Player of the Season award to mark an outstanding debut season for the 22-year-old star.
In the German Bundesliga, the Player of the Season award went to Borussia Dortmund star, Jude Bellingham. The former Birmingham midfielder was once again instrumental to Borussia Dortmund as they fought valiantly for the German Bundesliga title until the end of the season.
Paris Saint-Germain star, Kylian Mbappe continued his dominance of the Player of the Season award after winning the award once again in the 2022/23 season. It was the fourth consecutive time he would be winning the seasonal award. Mbappe beat the likes of Lionel Messi to the award after scoring 29 games and providing 6 assists in the French Ligue 1.
In the Italian Serie A, it was Napoli star, Khvicha Kvaratskheli who won the award after an impressive debut season for the Georgian attacker. Kvaratskheli scored 12 goals and provided 13 assists in the Italian Serie A in the 2022/23 season as Napoli won the Scudetto for the first time in more than 30 years.
