The Yobe State Government on Wednesday conducted a mass burial for at least 84 people killed in a brutal attack on Mafa community in Tarmuwa Local Government Area.
Confirming the incident, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Dungus Abdulkarim, said about 150 suspected Boko Haram fighters stormed the village on more than 50 motorcycles, heavily armed with rifles and rocket-propelled grenades.
“The assault caused massive damage, burning shops and homes and driving nearly all the villagers to flee to Babangida,” Abdulkarim said.
He added that residents have, however, returned to Mafa and that no further incidents has been reported.
