Yoruba group slams Aare Gani Adams for accusing Sunday Igboho of murder, threatens action

The Yoruba Self-Determination Movement (YSDM) has condemned the allegation against Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday ‘Igboho’, on the murder of former Oyo State Governor and Minister of Justice, Bola Ige, by Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, Gani Adams, in a voice-note circulating on social media.

General Secretary of YSDM, Moses Ojo, who represented the National Leader, Prof. Banji Akintoye, during a media briefing on Wednesday, decried the damaging impact of the allegation on Igboho’s reputation and the Yoruba cause.

The YSDM also urged Adams to retract the allegation and join force with Igboho in the struggle against their common enemies, adding that failure to do so would prompt the group to take appropriate legal and public actions to address the falsehood.

He said: “Unfortunately, our Aare Ona Kakanfo, Iba Gani Adams, has been credited with making very sensitive, ugly and murderous allegations against a fearless defender of the Yoruba people and a guardian of our national heritage.

The voice-note of Iba Gani Adams has gone viral on social media, and it is destructive to the great and impeccable image of Sunday Adeyemo, as well as detrimental to our Yoruba cause.

Sunday Igboho has championed the Yoruba freedom cause for several years at inestimable personal costs to his freedom, businesses, families, and his life.

“Iba Gani Adams’ position as the Aare Ona Kakanfo & Generalissimo of the Yoruba is expected to take charge of the struggle and join forces with Sunday Igboho against our common enemies. We are disappointed that this is not the case today.”

“We believe that this matter can be quickly resolved in-house but only after a public retraction. We want to embrace our Aare in brotherly love and in a public show of unity/force against the Fulani and their imperialist backers.

It is now within the discretion of the Aare to make this a positive turnaround for our people. His failure to retract the allegation against Igboho will leave us with no choice but to take appropriate legal and public actions to correct this falsehood.”.
