Nigerian stand-up comedian, Bovi Ugboma, has frowned at the use of beating as a means of correcting children.
Naija News reports that Bovi, during an interview on the recent episode of ‘The Honest Bunch’ podcast, emphasised that children do not deserve to be beaten regardless of their offence.
The comedian also criticised the practice of senior students punishing junior colleagues in primary and secondary schools.
He said, “I don’t advocate for beating children. You should let children be. When you hit a kid, are you really trying to correct them or are you frustrated? my son dey break television for the fun of it , if he’s angry, he’ll throw stuff at the TV and break it, he has broken 3 TVs.
“No child should be given authority over another child in the name of ‘senior student’. It really has to stop.”
Meanwhile, Bovi has claimed that the female gender is in control of the entertainment industry.
Bovi stated this during an appearance on TVC programme, ‘Your View.’
The comedian opined that women sometimes complain of inequality even in industries where they are already dominating because they are used to demanding equality.
He made reference to Funke Akindele and Mo Abudu, Bolanle Austin-Peters, amongst others, describing them as the biggest producers in the Nollywood industry.
