Asari Dokubo Tells Tinubu to Surrender Over Nigeria’s Economic Hardship as Charly Boy Reacts

Former Niger Delta militant leader Asari Dokubo has called on President Bola Tinubu to surrender and step aside, citing worsening economic hardship in Nigeria.

Dokubo, a former leader of the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND), made the remarks in a video circulating on social media, where he criticised the rising cost of living, expensive fuel and the continued failure of the country’s refineries to operate effectively.

Brandishing a sword and singing a war song in the video, Dokubo addressed Tinubu in Pidgin English, insisting that the President could not fight and should give way amid the country’s economic challenges.

“Tinubu, na me dey tell you, you no go fit fight. Tinubu surrender. The country too hard. This country is too hard. We dey vex,” he said.

He expressed frustration over the cost of fuel and other essential goods, arguing that Nigerians were struggling to cope with the economic situation.

“Look, out fuel, everything is too expensive in this country. Everything is too expensive. We have refineries but they’re not working in this country. Nothing is working in this country and we’ll not continue in this situation,” Dokubo added.

He repeatedly stressed that Nigerians were hungry and demanded an end to the hardship.

“We’re hungry. We’re hungry. We’re hungry and this must stop. It must stop,” he declared.

Charly Boy Mocks Asari Dokubo Over Surrender Call

Meanwhile, veteran Nigerian entertainer Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy or the Area Father, has reacted to Dokubo’s remarks with a mocking comment.

Reposting the video on X, Charly Boy suggested that the former militant leader’s outburst might be connected to the failure of the presidency to renew an alleged subscription.

“Asari say make Tinubu surrender. Say country too hard. Bulaba never renew him subscription,” Charly Boy wrote.

His comment added a new dimension to the exchange, turning Dokubo’s criticism of the President into a subject of political banter on social media.

Economic Hardship Remains a Major Public Concern

Dokubo’s comments highlight the continuing public debate over Nigeria’s cost of living, fuel prices and the state of the country’s domestic refining industry.

His remarks also reflect the frustration expressed by Nigerians over the affordability of basic necessities and the broader impact of economic pressures on households.

While Dokubo called on Tinubu to surrender and step aside, Charly Boy responded by mocking the former militant leader rather than directly addressing the substance of his complaints.

The exchange has brought together criticism of the Federal Government’s handling of the economy and the political commentary that frequently accompanies public reactions to Nigeria’s economic challenges.
