The chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Mahmood Yakubu has assured the people of Ondo state that election materials will arrive early for the governorship poll in the state.
Yakubu said this while conducting an on-the-spot assessment in some local government areas in the state.
Also, mock accreditation was conducted in some locations across the state.
The INEC chairman in addition said that officials for the November 16 off-cycle governorship election for the state would arrive at their respective duty posts early.
“The assurance is that, as we have been assured by the Electoral Officers (EOs) and as we have seen the level of preparations made, we will ensure that all polling units open on time so that voters will not come and wait for INEC officials and materials.
“Having tested the integrity of the machines, it’s not just about deploying early but also accrediting early and my assurance to voters is that, as far as INEC is concerned, in this multi-stakeholder activity called election, you can see the level of preparation.
“That’s why we left our offices in Abuja to come to the state,” Yakubu said.
