SGF Akume issues crucial message to new ministers

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume, has called on newly appointed ministers to prioritize the national interest over personal, ethnic, and sectional interests.

Akume made the remarks at the opening of a two-day induction retreat in Abuja on Thursday, urging the ministers to align with the government’s overarching development agenda.

“As ministers in your respective ministries, the president has entrusted you with the mandate of driving the administration’s renewed hope agenda for development, stability, and growth in your sector,” Akume told the appointees.

He emphasized that they were entrusted with crucial responsibilities that directly impact national development.

The SGF further reminded the ministers of their role in fostering national cohesion, urging them to promote peace and unity across the country.

“You are, therefore, expected to shun personal, ethnic, and sectional interests and uphold our national interests,” he stated.

Akume also stressed the importance of teamwork, encouraging the ministers to work collectively to meet the government’s goals.

These include tackling poverty, enhancing security, driving economic diversification, and improving critical infrastructure.

The induction retreat, aimed at equipping the ministers with essential knowledge for their roles, marks a significant step in the new administration’s drive for national progress and stability.
