Abductors of two Taraba varsity students demand N50m ransom

The two students from Federal University Wukari in Taraba State have been kidnapped, and their captors are requesting N50 million as ransom to release them.

In a phone interview with journalists on Sunday, the institution’s Head of Information and Protocol Unit, Mrs. Ashu Agbu, revealed this.

“The abductors revealed that they came for the owner of the eatery and not his staff and will return to get him.

“They are demanding a ransom of N50m to free the two students. Since the incident, security agencies and youths of the area are combing the surrounding forests and bush paths to apprehend the kidnappers and will not relent until the students are rescued alive and safe,” she said.

Agbu hinted that in order to find a long-term solution to the insecurity affecting the institution, a larger meeting with representatives from local, state, and federal governments as well as security agencies will take place on Monday, April 8.

Approximately 90% of the institution’s employees and students reside outside of the school’s boundaries, according to our correspondent.

The students who were staying outside the school premises were picked up on Wednesday, April 3 at approximately ten o’clock at a store near the busy area.
