Bode George “When I said I’ll leave Nigeria if Tinubu becomes President, I meant it”

Chief Olabode George, a prominent figure in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has expressed his sincere intention to depart the nation in the event that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu assumes office. But after Tinubu was elected president, Bode George claimed he had broken his commitment because the President had sent a committee to him to seek unity and peace.

He also revealed that Femi Gbajabiamila, President Tinubu’s current chief of staff, visited him in an effort to put aside differences and cooperate.

In a News Central TV interview, someone questioned why he didn’t follow through on his promise to leave the nation.

He said, “You know, when I said that I meant it. But in a situation where you had official delegation from him (Tinubu) that look, we need to close ranks. There are certain things that they did that were not quite right and they apologized and we spoke as lagosians. Because the old man that came for the meeting spoke in a manner that I can’t but respect his request.

So I looked at it, yes we are all Nigerians and I said to myself, well, If that is the new route you want us to take, fine and dandy.

And then my young brother from Lagos State, Femi Gbajabiamila also came here and said egbon, let’s work, let’s calm down. And it wasn’t hidden, it was publicised, so what else do you do. You don’t want to keep enmity forever.”
