BREAKING: Abuja residents lament over water scarcity

The FCT Water Board has received requests from some residents of Karu and Nyanya in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to address the area’s ongoing water crisis.

A few of the locals who spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Sunday also urged Mr. Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, to look into the issue and take swift action.

They claimed that in order to raise the area’s standard of living, the situation required immediate attention.

A resident of Nyanya named Mrs. Amaka Ibeh claimed that the family had to spend more money as a result of the development.

Ibeh, a civil servant, claimed that each month, she spent one-third of her pay on water.

She stated that although the family used to rely on the pipe-borne water for drinking, they now purchase the more expensive sachet water.

Ibeh made a request of the FCT authority to resolve the issue permanently so that she could afford to buy her family more food.

“I am a single mother of three children and I spend a lot of money buying borehole water just for house chores and bathing.
