Sesan Adelabu, also known as Emirate, a prominent businessman in Akure, Ondo State, allegedly killed his wife and then himself in a horrific incident.
The incident took place in their residence in the Alagbaka area of Akure on Friday, February 9, 2024.
Adelabu, who owned Emirate filling stations in Akure, reportedly ingested the lethal qinsect-killing substance, sniper, to end his life. His wife’s body was found with multiple stab wounds inflicted by a machete. Both bodies have been taken to the morgue.
The Ondo State Police Command has confirmed the incident and launched an investigation into the matter. The State Police Spokesperson, SP Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, said that the Commissioner of Police, Abayomi Oladapo, has assigned the homicide section to handle the case.
Odunlami-Omisanya said that the police received a distress call on the evening of February 9, alerting them to the alleged murder-suicide. When they arrived at the scene, they discovered Adelabu’s corpse in the toilet, with a bottle of sniper beside him, and his wife’s corpse in the bedroom, with a machete beside her.
The police have sealed off the scene as they try to uncover the circumstances and the details of this tragic incident.
