The Niger State Government has reintroduced the teaching of Christian Religious Knowledge in all public schools across the state.
This development is in fulfillment of Governor Bago’s earlier promise to the Christian community.
The Governor’s decision, which has been hailed by the Christian Association of Nigeria, is expected to help children grow with the fear of God, thereby addressing the moral decadence resulting from the replacement of family values with social vices.
According to Governor Bago, “the subject will be made compulsory for Christians in all public schools across the State.”
The Chairman of the Niger State Chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Most Rev. Dr. Bulus Dauwa Yohanna, commended the Governor’s leadership style, describing him as one who means well for the people irrespective of their religion.
“The Governor’s approval for the reintroduction of CRK in public schools across the state will bring about understanding of the faith and mutual respect,” he said.
Dr. Yohanna further praised the Governor’s commitment to fairness and inclusivity, stating, “I commend the leadership style of the former Governor, because he has shown his commitment to fairness and inclusivity irrespective of religion or tribe, which has fostered unity and a harmonious society among diverse groups and religion in the state.”
The CAN Chairman, however, urged parents, religious bodies, and relevant stakeholders not to relent in ensuring the successful takeoff of CRK teaching in all public schools for the better future of the youths.
