BREAKING: EFCC Personnel Allegedly Steals $30,000 From Exhibit Room In Kaduna

An official of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has reportedly made away with $30,000 from Kaduna Zonal Office’s exhibit room.

The staff, reportedly known as Polycarp, vanished from the office when an audit of the exhibit room was demanded by the Zonal Director, Benedict Ubi.

According to Daily Nigerian, aside from the $30,000, Polycarp allegedly stole other valuable exhibits.

Ubi’s demand for an audit followed the commission’s sack of 27 of its staff in Lagos for fraudulent activities.

According to the sources, when Mr Polycarp received the directive that the exhibit room would be audited, he took an excuse to ease himself and fled.

“Immediately after the order for the audit was given, he took an excuse to ease himself. Efforts were made to contact him but all his telephone lines were switched off.

“This is only what the preliminary audit on foreign currency shows. There are chances that more could be uncovered after a thorough audit of the exhibit room,” Daily Nigerian reported.

As of the time of filling this report, EFCC’s spokesman, Wilson Uwajerin, has yet to comment on the report.

Naija News reported that the anti-graft agency on Monday, last two weeks sacked 27 staff in its quest to enforce integrity.

The officers were dismissed for various offenses bordering on fraudulent activities and misconduct.

Their dismissal, following the recommendation of the Staff Disciplinary Committee of the EFCC, was ratified by the Executive Chairman, Mr. Ola Olukoyede.

Olukoyede reiterated the commitment of the Commission to zero tolerance for corruption, warning that no officer was immune to disciplinary measures.

“Every modicum of allegation against any staff of the Commission would always be investigated, including a trending $400,000 claim of a yet-to-be-identified supposed staff of the EFCC against a Sectional Head.

“The core values of the Commission are sacrosanct and would always be held in optimal regard at all times,” he said.
