BREAKING: Eisenkot Accuses Netanyahu of Election Sabotage, Vows to Block Knesset Swearing-In Obstruction

According to a report by Times Of Israel on Thursday October 29, 2026, Yashar party leader Gadi Eisenkot has accused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of undermining the legitimacy of the election, vowing to prevent any attempt to obstruct the swearing-in of the newly elected members of the Knesset.

Eisenkot’s remarks come as the vote count approaches completion, with political tensions rising over the election outcome and the next steps in Israel’s parliamentary process.

The Yashar leader also outlined key legislative priorities, including efforts to pass a conscription law and establish a state commission of inquiry into the October 7 attacks.

The proposed conscription legislation is expected to address the contentious issue of military service, particularly the long-running debate over exemptions for ultra-Orthodox Jewish men, known as Haredim. The question has remained a major source of political disagreement in Israel, with growing pressure to expand enlistment among communities traditionally exempted from compulsory military service.

Eisenkot’s pledge to establish an investigation into the October 7 attacks signals his intention to pursue accountability for the security failures surrounding the Hamas-led assault, which triggered the war in Gaza.

Meanwhile, tensions over military conscription have spilled onto the streets, where police clashed with ultra-Orthodox protesters opposing enlistment. The demonstrations reflect continuing resistance within parts of the Haredi community to government efforts to increase military participation.

The dispute over conscription has placed additional pressure on Israel’s political leadership, exposing divisions over military obligations, religious exemptions and the distribution of national responsibilities.

With the election count nearing its conclusion, attention is shifting towards the formation of the next parliamentary administration and the implementation of campaign commitments.
