Elon Musk, tech billionaire and owner of the X microblogging platform, announced that the platform has been hit by a “massive cyberattack.”
“There was (and still is) a significant cyberattack against 𝕏,” Mr. Musk tweeted on Monday.
He explained, “We face attacks every day, but this one has involved substantial resources.”
While the source of the attack remains unverified, Mr. Musk stated, “It is likely that a large, coordinated group and/or a nation is involved. We’re tracing it.”
His tweet corroborated reports that X experienced outages earlier on Monday.
Approximately 40,000 X users in the U.S. were reportedly unable to access their accounts due to the attack.
