The Labour Party (LP) governorship candidate in the last Bayelsa State election Udengs Eradiri, has officially joined the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Eradiri registered with the APC in Ward 10, Constituency 2, Yenagoa, citing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s firm commitment to infrastructural development, particularly for his Agudiama/Ekpetiama community in Yenagoa Local Government Area, as a significant factor in his decision.
He highlighted key initiatives undertaken by the Tinubu administration that he believes have greatly benefited both his community and the broader Niger Delta region. These initiatives include the provision of clean drinking water, shore protection, solar streetlights, and the construction of a one-kilometre road, all facilitated by the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) under Samuel Ogbuku’s leadership.
The former Bayelsa Commissioner for Youths and Environment pointed out that the positive effects of these interventions extend beyond his community, significantly contributing to enhanced infrastructure and peace throughout the Niger Delta.
Eradiri also praised the federal government’s ongoing projects, which include plans to remodel a local secondary school and the construction of a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) lodge in the state.
He further commended President Tinubu for signing the Maritime University Bill into law and approving the establishment of the University of Technology and Environment in Ogoni, believing these steps will further stabilise the region and promote long-term growth.
Additionally, Eradiri lauded Tinubu for appointing Bayelsa indigenes to prominent positions, such as the Head of Service, the Minister of State for Petroleum, and the Managing Director of the NDDC.
He expressed his belief that Tinubu’s administration is dedicated to enhancing oil production and expediting the construction of the East-West Road, overseen by Minister of Works, Dr. Dave Umahi.
Eradiri attributed much of the peace and development in the Niger Delta to the collaborative efforts stemming from these projects. He emphasised that Tinubu genuinely cares for the Niger Delta and Nigeria as a whole, encouraging supporters in the region to join him in endorsing the President’s vision for the country.
He expressed his gratitude to APC members in Bayelsa for their warm welcome and pledged to collaborate with all stakeholders to strengthen the APC in the state.
“The best way to support a government that is performing well is to align with them,” Eradiri concluded..
