Unknown gunmen launched an attack on the residence of Maharazu Dayi, Chairman of Malumfashi Local Government Area in Katsina State, on Tuesday night, resulting in the death of a police officer.
The assailants targeted the premises, shooting Police Corporal Shamsudeen Lawal, who was later rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. However, he succumbed to his injuries.
Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, stated that the officer was shot and taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
According to Sadiq, “Yes, the incident happened yesterday but our men were mobilised to the scene as the officer was rushed to the hospital where he was confirmed dead.
“We arrested three suspects in connection with the attack and further development will be communicated to you as an investigation is ongoing.”
However, it is not clear if there were injured victims, but it was gathered that the attempt to break into the residence was thwarted by the security operatives.
