BREAKING: Jigawa: Violence erupts in Taura village as police arrest five suspects

A devastating wave of violence swept through Taura Village in Jigawa State, leaving a trail of destruction and chaos in its wake.

The mayhem, which erupted in the early hours of the day, saw youths from Zangon Maje Village unleash a reign of terror on the community, setting fire to twenty-four thatched houses and sixteen local granaries.

Preliminary investigations by the police revealed that the trouble started when two residents of Zangon Maje Village, Musa Hussaini and Shanu Sule, were beaten and had their motorcycle snatched.

The duo subsequently raised an alarm, mobilizing their community members to exact revenge on the village. The police swiftly intervened, dispatching a team led by the Divisional Police Officer of Taura to the scene.

According to the police, normalcy has been restored, and patrols have been intensified in the area to prevent further breaches of peace.

In a statement, the police said, “The Command has urged good citizens in the state to strictly avoid taking laws into their own hands. At the same time, we advise the general public to direct their complaints to the appropriate authorities for a timely and prompt response. Anyone found wanting will be dealt with ruthlessly.”

The police also confirmed the arrest of five suspects in connection with the violence. The suspects are currently assisting the police in their investigation.

The Area Commander in charge of Ringim led a team of policemen to the affected areas, where they engaged in dialogue with stakeholders and effected the arrests.

The police have urged residents to remain calm and to report any further incidents to the authorities.
