A leading figure in the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Kashim Imam, has announced that he has severed ties with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu after 36 years of friendship.
Imam, who serves as Chairman of ADC Membership Registration and Revalidation and North East ADC National Leader, made the declaration in a video shared on X by Sulaiman Uwaisu Idris, popularly known as @KafinHausa.
In the video, Imam said his decision was guided by conscience and faith.
“I was a close ally of Tinubu for 36 years, but today I decided to part ways with him out of fear of God and a rejection of injustice,” he said.
He criticised the current administration, describing it as deeply unjust.
“Since the creation of Nigeria, I have never seen injustice like this one,” he stated.
Imam then declared, “I now support Atiku Abubakar in the pursuit of justice and the rescue of the nation.”
He argued that Nigeria is not poor but is suffering from poor leadership.
“There’s abundance of wealth in this country. If you go to every state, there’s wealth: hidden or seen. Our major problem is injustice from our leaders, and there has never been injustice like there is now,” Imam added.
He also dismissed the political influence of governors, insisting that power ultimately rests with ordinary Nigerians.
“As Sardauna said, if all the Nigerian governors would support Tinubu, it would not change anything. Governors do not vote. The poor hold the vote. This time, the poor are searching for their rights. They are aware of leaders that are for them, and the wicked ones,” he said.
