BREAKING NEWS: Surge in Voter Turnout as INEC Records 3.4 Million New Registrants

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says it has registered more than 3.4 million new voters in the second phase of its Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise across the country.

In its week 13 update released on Wednesday in Abuja, the commission disclosed that a total of 3,441,121 registrations had been completed as of April 3. The figure includes both online pre-registrations and in-person enrolments at designated centres nationwide.

According to INEC, 2,068,384 Nigerians registered through its online platform, while 1,372,737 completed the process physically.

A breakdown of the data shows that Jigawa State recorded the highest number of new voters with 201,047 registrations, accounting for 5.84 per cent of the total.

Lagos State followed with 181,095, while Kano State ranked third with 177,681.

Young people dominated the exercise, with individuals aged 18 to 34 making up 2,354,768 registrants, representing 68.43 per cent of the total.

Gender figures also showed a higher turnout among women. Female registrants stood at 1,922,143 (55.86 per cent), compared to 1,518,978 males (44.14 per cent).

By occupation, students formed the largest group, with 1,235,931 registrations, representing 35.92 per cent. This was followed by those engaged in business at 701,912 (20.40 per cent), and individuals involved in farming and fishing at 615,967 (18.28 per cent).

The commission further revealed that 48,330 Persons with Disabilities were captured during the exercise.

INEC noted that the figures are provisional and subject to verification, including data clean-up, claims and objections, as well as validation using the Automated Biometric Identification System.

It added that voter registration remains temporarily suspended in the Federal Capital Territory in line with the Electoral Act 2022, following the Area Council Election held on February 21.

The commission encouraged eligible Nigerians who are yet to register to do so through its official platforms before the close of the exercise.

Favor As Higher Power?

(The hidden truth)

Some positions in life cannot be held or retained for long if you are not favored. Favor is higher power. You are not the only one desiring, deserving, connected, powerful or qualified. Some positions in life, opportunities, success, achievements, triumphs, selection, approvals, power and position, elevation, patronage, etc, are mainly through favor. Favor is silent, spiritual and higher power. For spiritual guidance, other solutions, call/Whatsapp Dr J.A. Faros on 07030514063. With God, all are possible.
