Corps Members have been urged to focus on leaving lasting legacies through various projects aimed at improving the standards of living for residents in their host communities.
In a statement issued on Monday by the Acting Director of Information and Public Relations, Caroline Embu, it was noted that the Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General YD Ahmed, addressed the 2024 Batch ‘C’ Stream Two Corps Members at the Kebbi State Orientation Camp in Dakingari, Suru Local Government Area. General Ahmed emphasised that the Community Development Service (CDS) programme, one of the four core components of the NYSC, was designed to enable Corps Members to carry out personal or group projects that would benefit their host communities during their service year.
General Ahmed also underscored that the NYSC would not tolerate indecent dressing among Corps Members, reinforcing the importance of adhering strictly to the approved NYSC dress code.
Furthermore, he cautioned Corps Members against boarding vehicles from unauthorised motor parks and advised them to only use approved motor parks. He also reminded them to seek permission from the NYSC before embarking on any journeys.
The NYSC Kebbi State Coordinator, Alhaji Bala Dabo Kagarko, presented his camp report to the Director General, stating that all camp activities were progressing smoothly. He also highlighted the high level of discipline, commitment, and perseverance demonstrated by the Corps Members.
In total, 1,300 Corps Members were registered, comprising 771 males and 529 females.
