BREAKING: Ogun, NAF partner to improve security, aviation development

The Ogun State Government has announced its commitment to strengthening collaboration with the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) to enhance security and promote aviation development within the state.

The Governor made this statement during a meeting with the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar, at the NAF Headquarters in Abuja.

The meeting focused on areas of mutual interest, particularly the development of the Gateway International Airport.

Governor Abiodun emphasised the state’s dedication to positioning the Gateway International Airport as a central hub for trade, investment, and logistics. He underscored the essential role of the Nigerian Air Force in ensuring both the security and operational efficiency of the airport.

A significant point of discussion was the proposed establishment of an Air Force base at the airport. This initiative is expected to enhance safety, stimulate economic activities, and attract further investment to the region.

The Governor expressed his gratitude to Air Marshal Abubakar for his proactive, responsive, and supportive approach to the request.

Governor Abiodun reiterated that the Ogun State Government is fully committed to forming strategic partnerships with key security agencies to safeguard the wellbeing and prosperity of the state’s residents.

He further added that the establishment of the Air Force base would represent a pivotal step in strengthening the state’s security framework, as well as reinforcing its growing status as an economic powerhouse.

Speaking on the meeting, Governor Abiodun said: “Today, we had the privilege of meeting with the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar, at the Nigerian Air Force Headquarters in Abuja, to discuss areas of mutual interest and collaboration, especially regarding our Gateway International Airport.

“As we work to establish the airport as a major hub for trade and investment, we acknowledge the indispensable role of the Nigerian Air Force in ensuring both its security and operational efficiency. Strengthening this partnership will not only propel our aviation objectives but will also contribute significantly to the overall safety and economic prosperity of Ogun State.”

The Governor also praised the leadership of the Nigerian Air Force, stating: “We are grateful to the Chief of the Air Staff for his proactiveness, responsiveness, and positive disposition towards our request for the establishment of an Air Force base at the Gateway International Airport.”
