BREAKING: Osimhen, Onuachu, Maja Lead Nigerian Stars’ Goal Rush Abroad

Several Nigerian footballers produced decisive contributions for their clubs across Europe last weekend, scoring vital goals and providing assists that helped secure important wins.

Leading the list of the Nigerian footballers abroad who shone last weekend was red-hot striker Victor Osimhen. He continued his impressive form for Galatasaray in the Turkish Super Lig with a goal.

The Super Eagles forward struck in the 66th minute as Galatasaray defeated Istanbul Basaksehir 3-0. Osimhen’s goal doubled the hosts’ advantage after Wilfried Singo had opened the scoring earlier in the second half, before Renato Nhaga wrapped up the result late on.

Osimhen almost produced a spectacular finish earlier in the game when an overhead kick crashed against the woodwork. The goal took his league tally to 12 in 19 appearances, with four assists to his name. Across all competitions this season, the Nigerian striker has now registered 19 goals and seven assists.

Another Nigerian striker enjoying a prolific run is Paul Onuachu, who once again delivered for Trabzonspor.

Onuachu scored the decisive goal as Trabzonspor secured victory over Caykur Rizespor, extending his remarkable scoring streak. The towering forward has now found the net in ten consecutive matches and has amassed 21 league goals this season.

His consistent finishing has also earned him a place in Trabzonspor’s history books. He is the first player since 1992 to score in eight straight league matches for the club.

In England, Josh Maja ended a lengthy wait for a goal as West Bromwich Albion recorded a convincing 3-0 win over Hull City in the Championship.

Maja opened the scoring in the 25th minute, finishing off a move to give his side early control of the game. The goal ended a frustrating run of 25 matches without finding the net and marked only his second strike of the campaign in 32 appearances. It could prove significant as West Brom continue their push to stay clear of the relegation zone.

In Turkey’s second tier, Nigerian duo Christian Nwachukwu and Raymond Adeola both made major contributions as Serikspor thrashed Adana Demirspor 4-1.

Nwachukwu opened his account for the club with a goal during the emphatic win, while Adeola delivered a standout performance by providing an assist before later adding his own goal.

Their combined display helped Serikspor claim an important victory as the club continues its campaign in the Turkish league.
