In a News Published by Vanguard Newspaper, The Super Eagles players have decided to step up their efforts to capture the AFCON trophy today as the die has been cast.
Coach Jose Peseiro reminded his team that he wants the trophy more than they do, while also lecturing them on virtues, dispositions, and having the proper mindset.
He emphasized to them the affection Nigerians have showed the squad ever since they got to Abidjan. The largest squad the Portuguese coach has managed is still the Super Eagles.
Only two lowly national teams, Saudi Arabia and Venezuela, has he managed before. Peseiro also managed clubs in the fourth division of the Portuguese league in addition to serving as assistant to other managers.
As a player, he was a secondtier striker in Portugal and he said in an interview on UK’s Sky Sport: “I did not play at a high level.” His coaching career took a turn after promotion to the top flight with Nacional. A job offer that set him on a different trajectory. Legendary Portuguese coach, Carlos Queiroz made him his assistant at Real Madrid in 2003. That was Jose Peseiro’s biggest moment.
