DSS Finally Allows Doctor To Check Nnamdi Kanu After Alleged Heart

Following extensive deliberations, an independent medical doctor conducted an examination of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), on Thursday.

Kanu’s lead counsel, Aloy Ejimakor, confirmed that the doctor was competent and had been personally selected by the IPOB leader.

Ejimakor revealed this after leading the legal team in a routine meeting with Kanu at the Department of State Services (DSS) facility.

In a post on X, Ejimakor wrote: “The jinx is finally broken. Today, a very competent doctor, personally chosen by Onyendu #MNK, met & examined him.

“It wasn’t easy, counting from last year when this should’ve happened. The indomitable #MnkLegalTeam also met with MNK today. It’s tough but we must not relent.”

Previously, Ejimakor had accused DSS operatives of obstructing Kanu’s access to an independent medical practitioner.

During his last court appearance, the IPOB leader disclosed that he is suffering from congestive heart failure and expressed frustration at the DSS’s alleged lack of seriousness regarding his health condition.

Kanu stated: “The Court is entitled to change its mind. They will change their mind. My right must be respected. My right to fair hearing must be respected.

“I have congestive heart failure. Basically they want to keep me alive so that when they calculate that I’m about to give up, that my heart is about to pack up, they’ll now say ‘go.”
