Mary J. Blige Reveals Why She Chose A Child-Free Life

American singer, Mary J. Blige has opened up about her decision not to have children, saying her experiences with family members influenced her choice when she was younger.

Blige shared her thoughts while speaking on the Michelle Obama Podcast, where she explained that she had watched some of her relatives struggle with childcare and give up some of their freedom while raising their children.

“When I was younger, I saw my family members struggle raising kids, needing baby sitters, not having freedom, so when I was younger I made the choice not to have any kids,” she said.

According to the singer, seeing those experiences at a young age shaped her decision not to become a mother.

However, Blige said her perspective changed as she got older.

She explained that watching her family members build relationships with their teenage children made her reconsider her earlier decision.

“But now as I got older and get to see how their teenagers are valuable to them, I sometimes regret not having them early too,” she added.

Blige’s comments show how her views on having children have changed over the years as she gained more life experience and saw the relationships her family members developed with their children.
