Neighbor Stabs Young Tenant in Kubwa Over Hanging Clothes on Rope

Salma Yunusa, a 19-year-old secondary school student residing in Kubwa town, FCT, was stabbed to death allegedly by her co-tenant, Immaculate Chukwudi, during a dispute.

The incident occurred in the Byazhin area of Kubwa, where Salma lived under the care of her elder sister, Bilikisu Yunusa.

The dispute reportedly began over hanging clothes on a rope, leading to a confrontation between Salma’s sister, Bilikisu, and Immaculate Chukwudi. The night before, Bilikisu had intervened in a dispute between Chukwudi and another male tenant, described as Pastor. However, Chukwudi allegedly threatened Bilikisu with a knife.

The following morning, the altercation escalated when Chukwudi spat on the water Bilikisu had fetched. Hearing this, Salma came out of her room and discarded the water.

This infuriated Chukwudi to the point of stabbing Salma in the chest.

Salma was immediately rushed to Kubwa General Hospital by her elder sister but was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Immaculate Chukwudi was promptly apprehended by the police following the incident. He confessed to the crime and is currently in custody, awaiting further legal proceedings. The FCT police command confirmed that the suspect will soon face charges in court.

Salma Yunusa was laid to rest in her hometown of Ajagwumu, Dekina LGA, Kogi State, with Bilikisu Yunusa, her elder sister appealing to the public and human rights organizations for support in her quest for justice.
