Nigerian Exports Weekend Round-Up: Onyedinma, Onuachu, Fago Shine as Lookman & Iwobi Struggle

It was another eventful weekend for Nigerian exports across Europe, with several Super Eagles and Super Falcons stars making their mark in their respective leagues in this Nigerian exports weekend round-up.

Fred Onyedinma, Paul Onuachu in Turkey, Salim Fago Lawal in Croatia, and other Nigerian footballers made their presence felt.

In England, Fred Onyedinma was the standout performer as his brace powered Wycombe Wanderers to a 4-1 home victory over Leyton Orient in League One.

At Hill Dickinson Stadium, Alex Iwobi could not prevent Fulham from falling to a 2-0 defeat against Everton. Calvin Bassey delivered a solid defensive performance for the Cottagers, while Samuel Chukwueze featured off the bench but struggled to influence the game.

Super Eagles attacker Taiwo Awoniyi made a second-half appearance as Nottingham Forest sealed a 3-1 home win over Leeds United. Meanwhile, Tolu Arokodare, Frank Onyeka and Christantus Uche were unused substitutes.

Over in the Women’s Super League, Super Falcons goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie put up a brave display for Brighton Women in their 1-1 draw with Liverpool Women.

In Turkey, Paul Onuachu found the net again, scoring his eighth goal of the season as Trabzonspor were held to a 1-1 home draw by Uchenna Ogundu’s Alanyaspor, with the latter featuring for 25 minutes.

Emeka Eze also impressed, registering a goal and an assist in Columbus FK’s 3-1 win over Igdir in the Turkish 1. Lig.

Elsewhere in Europe, Jordan Torunarigha played his part in helping Hamburger SV secure a draw against Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga.

In Saudi Arabia, Ashleigh Plumptre stood firm in defence as Al-Ittihad Ladies recorded a hard-fought away victory over Al-Qadsiah, with Francisca Ordega coming on for the final 16 minutes.

Akor Adams led the line effectively for Sevilla in their win over Osasuna, while Chidera Ejuke made a late substitute appearance.

In Italy, Ademola Lookman featured as Atalanta fell to a 3-0 home defeat against Sassuolo. Meanwhile, in Croatia, Salim Fago Lawal netted twice to fire NK Istra to an important 3-2 victory over Dinamo Zagreb.
