Peter Obi Under Fire Over Grid Collapses – Omokri: ‘Stick Your Divisive Politics to ADC

Social critic, Reno Omokri, has charged former presidential candidate, Peter Obi to limit his divisive nature to the African Democratic Congress, ADC.

Omokri said Obi should get a life and stop expecting bad news to react to in Nigeria.

He was reacting to Obi’s claim that President Bola Tinubu reneged on his campaign promises of ensuring adequate electricity in Nigeria.

Speaking on the latest national grid collapse, Obi had said Tinubu should stay in Nigeria to fix the country’s challenges instead of embarking on foreign trips.

However, Omokri recounted how the United States has suffered several major power grid failures, resulting in widespread outages, including a blackout that left 55 million people without electricity.

Posting on Facebook, he wrote: “As you read this, the United States is experiencing blackouts across multiple states as its power grid nears collapse.

“These things happen in every country on Earth. It is not limited to Nigeria, and it is a pity that Peter Obi, who last year lied that Tanzania had solved its power problem and asked Nigeria to learn from that nation, is up to his old tricks by de-marketing Nigeria over the recent power grid collapse.

“If Peter Obi had all the answers, why did he not build a single Independent Power Project in Anambra while he was Governor for eight years, like President Tinubu did in Lagos?

“Nigeria is making progress in the power sector, and we do not need to be put down by a man who spent eight years as Anambra Governor without building a single nursery, primary, secondary, or university school.

“Under Tinubu, Nigeria broke its power generation record with a peak generation of 5,801.84MW and maximum daily energy output of 128,370.75 megawatt-hours (MWh), the highest ever attained in the history of the electricity industry in Nigeria.

“Peter Obi is advised to get a life instead of sitting around waiting for bad news to happen and amplifying it.

“Mr Obi should limit his divisive nature to the African Democratic Congress, whose spokesman, Bolaji Abdullahi, recently complained about his polarising influence on that previously stable party, which got destabilised the minute Obi joined them and disjoined their cohesiveness.”
