He advised Peter Obi to continue pursuing his mandate and to accept the outcome with grace and positivity. In his words: “Nigeria is not just a Christian society, if God allows Obi to contest in the next election, it should not be based on religion. He should embrace our Muslim brothers. If you go to the church, you should also go to the mosque. Peter Obi may be criticised if he goes to the mosque, but he should not listen to them because anyone who wants to be the president will be the president of both Muslims and Christians.”
