Peter Obi’s Shock Move to ADC Is Politics of Convenience — Lagos APC Fires Back

The All Progressives Congress in Lagos state has described the defection of former Anambra State governor, Peter Obi, to the African Democratic Congress as the formal unveiling of a coalition of chaos allegedly designed to destabilise the country.

Spokesman of the party, Mogaji Seye Oladejo, in a statement, alleged that Obi’s decision did not represent political growth but rather confirmed the existence of an alliance driven by grievances, failed ambitions, and personal interests.

He said Obi’s political history suggested he was unlikely to contest consecutive elections on the same party platform.

According to him, the move merely reinforced what it described as a pattern of convenience politics disguised as principle.

While congratulating the ADC for securing Obi’s membership, the Lagos APC dismissed claims of independence surrounding the coalition, insisting that both the timing and venue of the announcement were deliberately chosen and politically symbolic.

“The ADC has not suddenly discovered ideology. It has simply revealed itself as a gathering point for rejected ambitions, serial aspirants, and recycled anger. This is not a coalition of ideas but a cartel of convenience.”

He further alleged that the opposition coalition was structured around a predetermined presidential ambition, with internal democracy and consultation reduced to mere formalities.

Oladejo claimed that Obi had already accepted, in principle, a vice-presidential role under a long-standing presidential contender, even before the coalition’s public unveiling.

The Lagos APC also accused Obi of political inconsistency, arguing that his alignment with figures he had previously criticised undermined his claims of moral superiority.

More critically, he faulted the coalition for what it described as a failure to unequivocally condemn terrorism and violent extremism in the country.

According to the APC, such silence was a deliberate political calculation that disqualified the coalition from seeking national leadership.

In contrast, he said the APC-led Federal Government under President Bola Tinubu was focused on economic stabilisation, dismantling criminal networks, restoring investor confidence, and rebuilding institutions weakened by past governance failures.

“One side thrives on propaganda, exaggeration, and international pity-seeking; the other is delivering governance,” he said, adding that the opposition was weaponising national hardship because it lacked a credible alternative agenda.

Reaffirming its confidence ahead of future elections, the Lagos APC spokesman said Nigerians would once again reject what it called desperation politics and stand with those committed to nation-building.

“The Renewed Hope Agenda remains irreversible. The future belongs to builders, not professional complainers; to patriots, not political tourists; and to courage, not cowardly silence in the face of terror.”

Favor As Higher Power?

(The hidden truth)

Some positions in life cannot be held or retained for long if you are not favored. Favor is higher power. You are not the only one desiring, deserving, connected, powerful or qualified. Some positions in life, opportunities, success, achievements, triumphs, selection, approvals, power and position, elevation, patronage, etc, are mainly through favor. Favor is silent, spiritual and higher power. For spiritual guidance, other solutions, call/Whatsapp Dr J.A. Faros on 07030514063. With God, all are possible.
