Raheem Sterling has reached out to Chelsea fans following his performance against Leicester City. Chelsea advanced to the FA Cup semi-finals on Sunday, although Sterling had a challenging day on the field.
In the first half, the Chelsea forward earned a penalty and decided to take the kick himself, stepping ahead of the usual penalty taker, Cole Palmer. The 29-year-old saw his shot easily saved by Leicester’s goalkeeper Jakub Stolarczyk.
The England forward also squandered a clear chance later in the first half but contributed to creating Palmer’s goal, helping Chelsea to a 2-0 lead before halftime.
However, as Chelsea lost their lead in the second half, Raheem Sterling faced criticism for sending a free-kick well over the bar from just outside the area.
The Chelsea crowd called for Mauricio Pochettino to substitute him, leading to his replacement amidst a mixed reaction of clapping and jeers from the fans.
