United States Officials Arrive Nigeria For Bola Tinubu’s Swearing-In

The United States delegation team of President Joe Biden has arrived in Nigeria for Asiwaju Bola Tinubu’s inauguration as President of Nigeria.

The United States of America mission in Nigeria’s official Twitter account announced this on Sunday.

Marcia L. Fudge, Secretary of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, is in charge of the delegation.

The US Embassy in Nigeria confirmed the delegation’s arrival in a tweet by writing: “Welcome to Nigeria! We are excited to receive the delegation from @POTUS Biden, led by @SecFudge from the Department of Housing and Urban Development, as they join us in Abuja for the inauguration of President-Elect Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”

  

 

Joe Biden, the President of the United States, had already announced his delegation’s attendance at Bola Tinubu’s inauguration on May 29th in Abuja.

Biden named a nine-member delegation for the occasion in a statement posted on the White House website on Monday night, May 22, 2023.

At Eagle Square in Abuja, where Tinubu will be sworn in as Nigeria’s 16th President, no less than 65 foreign leaders, including Heads of State, have been invited to attend.

At the inauguration, officials from a number of Nigeria’s traditional allies—including the US, UK, Canada, France, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Pakistan, China, Germany, Finland, Jamaica, Japan, Israel, Turkey, and others—are anticipated.

Marcia L. Fudge, secretary of the US Department of Housing and Urban Development, will serve as the delegation’s leader.

5. The Honorable Enoh T. Ebong, Director, U.S. Trade and Development Agency

6. The Honorable Mary Catherine Phee, Assistant Secretary of State for the Bureau of African Affairs, U.S. Department of State

7. The Honorable Judd Devermont, Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director for African Affairs, National Security Council

8. The Honorable Monde Muyangwa, Assistant Administrator for the Bureau for Africa, U.S. Agency for International Development.
