Veteran Nollywood actress, Patience Ozokwor, popularly known as mama G has revealed that there was no social media when she started in the movie Industry, and her children sacrificed a lot for her acting career.
She made this known on her social media page as she penned down a lengthy appreciation message to members of the industry and her fans after clinching the Industry Merit Award category of the 2023 Africa Magic Viewers Choice Award (AMVCA9) on Saturday, 20th May.
The veteran actress explained that progress in the Nollywood industry was dependent only one one’s talents, humility and trust in the past. However while appreciating her family, Patience Ozokwor stated that her children had to stay long periods without their mother, and at some point, her daughter became her personal assistant and is still her associate manager till date.
She wrote: “When we started in the industry there was no social media and so many other luxury we enjoy now. Progress was completely dependent on your talent, humility and trust.
I appreciate my colleagues who work tirelessly and often times without recognition
I appreciate my family who have always surrounded me with love and acceptance. My children sacrificed a lot a stayed long periods without a mother. At one point, my daughter became my PA and is still my associate manager till date”
