A youth stakeholder and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the Bungudu Local Government Area of Zamfara State, Sanusi Sa’adu, has warned President Bola Tinubu that he might lose his supporters if he fails to reject the State Governor, Dauda Lawal’s, defection to the party.
Speaking to Punch, he vowed to defect from the APC and sabotage Lawal and Tinubu’s chances at the polls.
Naija News understands that in an earlier video, Sa’adu described Lawal’s defection from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC as an evil wind that will not blow any good to the party.
Speaking during an interview with Punch, the APC chieftain explained that the earlier video was meant to notify Tinubu and the APC leadership about the challenges currently faced by the state’s residents as a result of the governor’s ineffective governance since his assumption of office.
He said, “I was telling President Tinubu that he will lose many supporters in Zamfara as a result of the defection of Governor Lawal to the APC.
“His defection to the APC is an evil wind that will not blow any good to the party. I told him that, I and my family as well as many APC supporters in the state, will not vote for him (Tinubu) and Governor Lawal in the forthcoming 2027 general elections if Governor Lawal remains in the party.
“I also maintained that I will either dump the APC and join another one or sabotage its chances of winning elections in 2027. I have already created a political group called ‘Anti-party Activities of Nigeria’ and I am its national chairman.”
Sa’adu, however, acknowledged that the governor had made efforts in the execution of projects in the state, but lamented that he had abandoned members of his “political structure” who supported him during the 2023 governorship election.
“Yes, the governor did a lot in terms of project execution, but there are other areas he has completely ignored. One of the areas is human development. He has not assisted those who helped him to win the election.
“He has abandoned many people who fought fearlessly during his campaigns when he was seeking for the governorship position. Another obstacle is refusing to allow credible candidates to get tickets during the last primary elections.
“Many people were offended as those that have been given party tickets for the 2027 general elections are not the choice of the generality of APC supporters. So the governor should expect anti-party activities,” he explained.
Shedding light on his newly formed political association, ‘Anti-party Activities of Nigeria’, the Zamfara youth stakeholder said some of its activities are to educate the people of the state on the kind of candidates to elect in the next general elections, irrespective of party inclination.
Sanusi Sa’adu stressed, “We will not campaign for the party even though we are APC supporters. That is why I am calling on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to take note of the dangers ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“Let me tell you, the defection of Governor Dauda Lawal to APC has weakened the chances of APC to win the election in Zamfara. Over 80 per cent of APC supporters are not happy with his defection to the party and will do everything they can to make sure that he did not come back to power in 2027.” Important Notice: Reading on PHOENIX?
