Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Blessing Agbebaku, has resigned from office, ending his leadership of the state legislature amid mounting political tension.
Agbebaku tendered his resignation on Monday as reports emerged that some members of the Assembly were making moves to remove him through impeachment proceedings.
His media aide, Ivy Adodo-Ebojele, announced the development in a Facebook post, stating that more information about the circumstances surrounding the resignation would be disclosed later.
“EDO ASSEMBLY SPEAKER RT HON CHIEF BLESSING AGBEBAKU RESIGNS,” she wrote.
