The Barea of Madagascar have arrived in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, ahead of their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying clash against the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

The Barea, under the guidance of head coach Corentin Martins, will face Nigeria in their matchday-one fixture at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo, on Friday.
The encounter marks the beginning of Madagascar’s 2027 AFCON qualifying campaign, with the team aiming to secure a positive result against the West African giants.
Following their meeting with the Super Eagles, Madagascar will return home to host Tanzania’s Taifa Stars in their matchday-two fixture, scheduled for four days later.
Barea Draw Confidence From 2019 Victory
Madagascar will be hoping to draw inspiration from their previous encounter with Nigeria at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.
The Barea recorded a 2-0 victory over the Super Eagles in a group-stage match, securing a memorable result against the Nigerian national team.
That previous triumph could provide additional motivation for Martins’ side as they prepare to face Nigeria once again, this time in the race for qualification for the 2027 AFCON tournament.
