APC to Inaugurate Tinubu’s 2027 Presidential Campaign Council on October 14

The All Progressives Congress (APC) will inaugurate the President Bola Tinubu/APC 2027 Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, as the ruling party advances its preparations for the 2027 presidential election.

The inauguration will take place at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa in Abuja, according to a statement issued on Tuesday by the APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka.

The event marks a step in the party’s preparations for the next presidential election, scheduled to hold in January 2027 under the revised timetable released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

APC Begins Preparations for Tinubu’s 2027 Campaign

The inauguration of the Tinubu/APC Presidential Campaign Council comes as political parties prepare for the 2027 general elections.

The campaign council is expected to serve as part of the party’s campaign structure ahead of the presidential poll. Details of the council’s membership and specific responsibilities were not provided in the statement cited.

The APC’s announcement also comes amid changes to the official election timetable following the enactment of a new electoral law.

INEC Revises 2027 General Election Timetable

INEC has revised the schedule of activities for the 2027 general elections following the repeal of the Electoral Act, 2022, and the enactment of the Electoral Act, 2026.

The commission had initially scheduled the Presidential and National Assembly Elections for Saturday, February 20, 2027, while the Governorship and State Houses of Assembly Elections were fixed for Saturday, March 6, 2027.

However, the new electoral law introduced adjustments to statutory timelines governing pre-election and electoral activities, prompting the commission to review and realign the election timetable.

According to the revised schedule, the Presidential and National Assembly Elections will now take place on Saturday, January 16, 2027.

The Governorship and State Houses of Assembly Elections have also been rescheduled to Saturday, February 6, 2027.

INEC said the adjustments were intended to ensure that the election timetable complies with the provisions of the new legal framework.

What the Revised Election Dates Mean

The revised timetable brings the presidential and National Assembly elections forward by 35 days, from February 20 to January 16, 2027. The governorship and state assembly elections have also been moved forward by 28 days, from March 6 to February 6, 2027.

With the presidential election now scheduled for January 16, 2027, political parties face an earlier election date as they organise their campaigns and other pre-election activities.

The APC’s planned inauguration of Tinubu’s 2027 Presidential Campaign Council is one of the developments taking place as preparations for the next general election gather pace.

The October 14 inauguration is expected to formalise an important part of the party’s campaign arrangements ahead of the presidential poll.

As political activities continue, INEC’s revised timetable will remain a key reference point for parties, candidates and other stakeholders preparing for the 2027 general elections.
