Daniel Dubois has tipped Tyson Fury to defeat Anthony Joshua when the British heavyweight rivals meet on December 11, although the former world champion admitted that predicting the outcome is far from straightforward.
Dubois, who knocked out Joshua in September 2024, shared his prediction during an interview with DAZN News ahead of his own rematch against Fabio Wardley for the World Boxing Organisation (WBO) heavyweight title.
Despite backing Fury to emerge victorious, Dubois acknowledged the difficulty of choosing a winner between two experienced heavyweights preparing for one of boxing’s most anticipated clashes.
“I’ll pick Fury (to win), but it’s hard to even do that,” Dubois said.
The 28-year-old also questioned the sporting significance of the encounter, describing it as a commercial event involving two veterans rather than a conventional competitive contest.
“Two veterans are going to have a big-money fight. To me, it’s not even a proper fight. It’s just business. Good luck to them and may the best man win on the night,” he added.
Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua: Date, Venue and Broadcast Details
The proposed heavyweight showdown between Fury and Joshua is scheduled for December 11 at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales. The fight is expected to be broadcast live worldwide on Netflix.
The World Boxing Association (WBA) belt is also expected to be at stake, adding another dimension to a contest that has attracted significant attention from boxing fans.
The fight represents a long-awaited meeting between two of Britain’s most recognisable heavyweight boxers, both of whom have experienced major victories, setbacks and changes in their careers.
Tyson Fury’s Record and Recent Comeback
Fury enters the anticipated contest with a reported professional record of 36 victories, two defeats and one draw, including 25 wins by knockout.
The former heavyweight champion previously announced his retirement following his rematch defeat to Oleksandr Usyk but subsequently returned to the ring in 2026.
He recorded comeback victories over Arslanbek Makhmudov and Mariusz Wach, renewing interest in his prospects against Joshua.
Among the defining victories of Fury’s career are his performances against former heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko and American knockout specialist Deontay Wilder.
His movement, ring intelligence and ability to adapt during fights could prove important against Joshua, although the December encounter is expected to present a different challenge.
Anthony Joshua’s Road Back to the Heavyweight Elite
Joshua, meanwhile, has a reported professional record of 30 wins and four defeats, with 27 victories coming by knockout.
The former two-time unified heavyweight champion suffered a devastating defeat against Dubois in 2024, when he was stopped in a fight that exposed significant questions about his ability to compete at the highest level.
Joshua subsequently returned to winning ways against Jake Paul before a fatal car crash claimed the lives of his friends Sina Ghami and Latif Ayodele.
He later resumed his boxing career against Kristian Prenga, recovering from two first-round knockdowns to stop his opponent in the second round.
That victory offered another indication of Joshua’s determination to return to the heavyweight title picture, although his performance against Fury would provide a much clearer assessment of his current standing among the division’s leading fighters.
What Comes Next for the Heavyweight Division?
The outcome of Fury versus Joshua could have significant implications for the heavyweight championship landscape, depending on the titles at stake and the eventual winner.
Murat Gassiev holds the WBA regular heavyweight title, Agit Kabayel is the WBC heavyweight champion, and Filip Hrgovic holds the IBF belt.
Usyk, who has established himself as one of the leading heavyweights of his generation, remains the Ring Magazine champion and has indicated that he may have only one more fight left in his career.
A victory for either Fury or Joshua could strengthen the winner’s position for a potential showdown with one of the other leading champions.
For now, Dubois has made his choice, backing Fury to win despite admitting that the contest is difficult to call. Whether the former champion can justify that prediction against Joshua will be one of the biggest talking points ahead of the December 11 showdown.
