Martin Odegaard Posts Wordless Reaction After Hearing News Coming Out Of Arsenal Yesterday

It’s a fantastic time to be an Arsenal fan.

The Gunners are on top of the Premier League table ahead of Liverpool and Manchester City, and they are also through to the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

Mikel Arteta has done a remarkable job as Arsenal’s manager, and Edu Gaspar – the club’s sporting director – is doing his job brilliantly too.

On Wednesday, the Brazilian secured another big deal, and Arsenal fans and club captain Martin Odegaard are absolutely delighted with the news.

Arsenal confirmed yesterday that Takehiro Tomiyasu has signed a new contract at the club.

The Japan international joined the Gunners from Bologna back in the summer of 2021. He became an instant fan favourite at the Emirates and is adored to this day.

Talks between Arsenal and Tomiyasu had been going on for months about a new contract, and it was finally confirmed on Wednesday.

The 25-year-old has now been tied down until the summer of 2026 and Arsenal have the option to extend that by another year.

Tomiyasu took to Instagram to celebrate his new deal yesterday, and his skipper Martin Odegaard, who he says is the toughest to play against, was delighted with the news.

The Norwegian reacted to the announcement with a couple of emojis.

Takehiro Tomiyasu was a bit of an unknown quantity for many in England, and that’s probably why he wasn’t on huge wages.

The Japanese defender was given a £50,000-a-week contract back in 2021, and following his new deal now, the 25-year-old has received a big pay rise.

TalkSPORT claim that Tomiyasu has now doubled his wages to £100,000-a-week, putting him on par with Gabriel Magalhaes, Reiss Nelson and Eddie Nketiah (Spotrac).

Arsenal take on Manchester City in the Premier League next in what is a huge game for both sides. Tomiyasu is back fit now, and it will be interesting to see if he will get a start at left-back.
