Popular Nigerian comedian and content creator, Sabinus, has revealed why he continues to shoot his comedy skits primarily in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, despite being based in Lagos.
The comedian disclosed this during a recent interview with VJ Adams, where he spoke about his creative process, lifestyle and the factors influencing the location of his comedy productions.
According to Sabinus, his decision to continue filming his skits in Port Harcourt is largely connected to the nature of his storylines. He explained that the environment in Port Harcourt complements the kind of stories and characters featured in his comedy content.
Sabinus noted that he usually travels from Lagos to Port Harcourt specifically to shoot his skits before returning to Lagos, where he spends time, handles other activities and builds professional connections.
He said:
“All my comedy skits I shoot them in Port Harcourt, but I base in Lagos even till now. I have a time I normally go to shoot, then I come back to Lagos to enjoy my life, then do some connections, but my skit shoot goes down in Port Harcourt because of my kind of storyline.”
His comments highlight the continued influence of Port Harcourt on his comedy career, even though Lagos is now his base.
Sabinus, who rose to prominence through his distinctive comedy characters and relatable skits, has frequently drawn inspiration from everyday Nigerian life. His content often incorporates familiar situations, personalities and environments that resonate with audiences across the country.
For the comedian, Port Harcourt remains an important part of that creative identity, providing the setting he feels best matches the storylines behind many of his popular skits.
