Social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has accused Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke of being a political ally of the All Progressives Congress (APC) following reports of his support for President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid.
VDM made the allegation in a video shared on his official Instagram handle on Thursday, claiming that Adeleke’s reported appointment as the Osun State coordinator of the City Boy Movement, a group backing Tinubu, indicated that the governor had been aligned with the ruling party.
The activist questioned Adeleke’s political stance and alleged that the development raised concerns about the relationship between the Osun governor and the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“Davido’s uncle Governor Ademola Adeleke finally came out to throw his weight behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” VDM said.
He further claimed that Adeleke’s reported role in the City Boy Movement could influence the political landscape in Osun State during the next presidential election.
According to VDM, the development could have implications for the outcome of the 2027 presidential poll in the state, although he provided no evidence to substantiate his allegation that Adeleke would manipulate election results in Tinubu’s favour.
VDM Questions Adeleke’s Political Allegiance
The social media activist also revisited his earlier comments about Adeleke, insisting that the governor had always been politically aligned with the APC despite contesting the Osun governorship election on the platform of the Accord Party.
VDM argued that the political contest involving Adeleke and the APC during the governorship election was not what it appeared to be, alleging that the rivalry between the parties concealed a deeper political relationship.
“Going back to my old video, remember I said this man is an APC puppet,” he said.
He added that Adeleke had allegedly avoided openly demonstrating support for the ruling party before the election because of the possibility that voters would reject the APC.
VDM further claimed that the contest between Adeleke and the APC-backed candidate was effectively an internal political battle rather than a straightforward confrontation between opposing political interests.
However, the activist’s assertions about Adeleke’s alleged political allegiance remain allegations and should not be treated as established facts.
VDM Drags Wike and Davido Into Allegations
VDM also referenced the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, while making further claims about Adeleke’s political relationships before and after the Osun governorship election.
According to the activist, Wike allegedly contacted Adeleke before the election and reached out to him again afterwards, urging him to take his Certificate of Return to President Tinubu and thank him.
VDM did not provide supporting evidence for the claims in the reported remarks.
The activist also accused Afrobeats singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, who is Governor Adeleke’s nephew, of attempting to influence public opinion through his social media posts during the political contest.
VDM alleged that Davido’s posts were intended to appeal to voters’ emotions in Osun State.
The claims add another dimension to the political debate surrounding Adeleke’s reported involvement with the City Boy Movement and the potential implications for the 2027 presidential election.
There was no response from Governor Adeleke, Davido or Wike included in the remarks cited in the report. Their positions on the allegations could not be established from the available information.
As political activities ahead of the 2027 elections gather attention, Adeleke’s reported support for Tinubu and VDM’s subsequent accusations are likely to generate further debate about party affiliations, political alliances and electoral interests in Osun State.
