Nigerian singer Peter Okoye, formerly of the music duo Psquare, has revealed why he decided to change the date he celebrates his birthday from November 18 to November 30.
Peter disclosed that his original birthday had become a difficult and emotionally challenging day for him over the past 13 years, prompting him to choose a new date for the celebration.
Speaking during an interview on the Capital XTRA Podcast, the singer said November 18 had become one of the worst days of his life due to what he described as gossip, tension and uncomfortable situations surrounding the occasion.
According to Peter, some people allegedly visit the residence of his twin brother, Paul Okoye, before coming to his side, where they discuss issues concerning him.
The singer explained that the situation had made celebrating their shared birthday increasingly uncomfortable, despite the fact that he and Paul were born on the same day.
Peter said he wished he could officially change the date on his documents and passport.
“I changed my birthday from November 18th to November 30th because for 13 years, it’s been the worst day of my life. People go to Paul’s house to gossip about me before coming to my side. I wish I could change it on my documents and passport.”

Peter’s revelation comes amid the long-running and highly publicised feud between the twin brothers.
The music duo, Psquare, initially split in 2017 after years of working together and enjoying major success in the Nigerian and international music scenes.
The brothers later reconciled and reunited professionally in 2021, raising hopes among fans that their differences had been resolved.
However, the reunion was short-lived, as Peter and Paul became embroiled in another dispute that led to their separation again in 2024.
Peter’s latest comments offer further insight into how the strained relationship has affected his personal life, particularly the celebration of a date that was once shared by both brothers.
For Peter, changing his birthday celebration to November 30 appears to represent an attempt to distance the occasion from the tension associated with November 18 and create a more comfortable personal experience around his special day.
