BREAKING: We Don’t Want Rivers Of Blood, We Don’t Want Rivers Of Shooting, Let There Be Peace In Rivers – Wike

According to a report by Leadership News on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has called on Nigerians to vote for President Bola Tinubu for a second term in 2027, stating that his administration has shown the determination to introduce difficult economic reforms despite the challenges associated with their implementation.

He maintained that Tinubu deserved another opportunity to continue leading the country.

Wike made the appeal on Monday during a Rainbow Coalition stakeholders’ town hall meeting held in Eleme Local Government Area of Rivers State.

He urged residents to support the President’s re-election ambition and vote for candidates endorsed by the coalition in the forthcoming elections.

The FCT minister pointed to the removal of the petrol subsidy as an example of the President’s willingness to make difficult policy decisions.

According to him, the move demonstrated Tinubu’s readiness to undertake major economic changes, even as Nigerians continue to experience hardship arising from the reforms.

He encouraged the people of Eleme and other residents of Rivers State to stand behind Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.

Wike also called for support for the coalition’s preferred candidates seeking governorship, legislative and other elective positions, stressing the importance of working together to achieve their political objectives.

The former Rivers State governor further highlighted the need for peace, unity and development across the state.

He urged political parties and their supporters to avoid actions that could lead to violence, insisting that political competition should not undermine peaceful coexistence among residents.

Wike noted that the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), alongside other political parties, had come together under the coalition to promote peace and development in Rivers State.

He expressed the view that cooperation among political groups could help prevent violence and encourage progress throughout the state.

“We don’t want Rivers of blood. We don’t want rivers of shooting. The two main political parties in this state are APC and PDP. They have joined together with other political parties to say, ‘Let there be peace in Rivers State, let there be development and unity,’” he said.
