Bayern Munich have reportedly reached a verbal agreement in principle with Harry Kane over a new long-term contract that would keep the England captain at the German club until June 2029.
According to reports from transfer journalist Michael Bridge, corroborated by Fabrizio Romano on X on Thursday, the two parties have agreed on the key terms, including salary and contract duration.
The contract documents are now with lawyers for final checks and approval, with the signing expected to take place as soon as possible. Kane has reportedly given his personal approval to the proposed extension.
Romano reported that Bayern Munich and Kane had reached a verbal agreement in principle, adding that the salary, contract length and documentation were being finalised ahead of the signing.
Harry Kane’s Bayern Munich Contract Extension
Kane’s current contract with Bayern Munich runs until the summer of 2027. The proposed extension would add another two years, keeping the striker at the Allianz Arena until June 2029.
The new deal would also see the 33-year-old continue his career in Germany into his mid-30s, underlining Bayern’s commitment to retaining one of their most influential players.
Negotiations between the club and the England international have reportedly progressed positively in recent weeks, with previous updates indicating that both sides were closing in on an agreement over the major terms.
Bayern officials, including sporting director Christoph Freund, have previously described discussions as “very positive” and highlighted Kane’s happiness at the club. However, the agreement remains subject to the completion of legal checks and the formal signing of the contract.
Harry Kane’s Impressive Record at Bayern Munich
Kane joined Bayern Munich from Tottenham Hotspur in 2023 in a club-record transfer for the German side at the time.
Since arriving in Munich, the prolific striker has established himself as a key figure in the team, delivering an impressive goalscoring record across domestic and European competitions.
He has scored more than 150 goals in around 154 appearances across all competitions, according to the figures provided in the report. Kane has also won the Bundesliga top-scorer award in each of his seasons in Germany and contributed to Bayern’s domestic success.
His consistency in front of goal has strengthened his standing among the leading forwards in world football, while his performances for club and country have placed him among the contenders for the 2026 Ballon d’Or.
Bayern Munich Move to Secure Kane’s Future
Reaching an agreement on a contract extension would represent a significant step for Bayern Munich as they look to maintain stability in their attacking department.
Kane’s goalscoring ability, leadership and experience have made him central to the club’s ambitions in the Bundesliga and European competitions.
Keeping the England captain beyond 2027 would also provide Bayern with greater certainty over their long-term plans, avoiding the prospect of his current deal entering its final year without an extension.
Although the main terms have reportedly been agreed, the deal is not yet officially complete. The final legal review and signing are the remaining steps before Bayern Munich can formally announce Kane’s new contract.
For now, the reported agreement in principle signals positive progress in negotiations and brings the German champions closer to securing the future of their star striker until June 2029.
