According to a report by The Daily Post on Thursday, October 29, 2026, Oyo State Governor and Allied Peoples Movement (APM) presidential candidate, Seyi Makinde, has reacted to the unveiling of the Rainbow Coalition in Rivers State by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
Makinde expressed surprise after Wike reportedly listed the APM among the political parties involved in the coalition, raising questions about the party’s inclusion in the political arrangement ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The governor made his position known on Thursday while speaking at the APM South-East Town Hall Meeting in Enugu.
According to Makinde, he watched the event where Wike unveiled the Rainbow Coalition and was surprised to hear the APM mentioned among the participating parties.
“A few days ago, I saw my good friend, Nyesom Wike, who was unveiling the Rainbow Coalition in Rivers State, and he listed all the political parties in the coalition and mentioned APM. I said, ‘So APM has graduated to be added to the Rainbow Coalition?’” he said.
Makinde also accused the ruling party of making efforts to weaken opposition parties as political activities gather momentum ahead of the 2027 polls.
He alleged that opposition groups had faced different forms of pressure, including the removal of campaign posters, disruptions during campaigns and attempts to influence voters with money.
“They’ve tried to undermine almost all the opposition parties. They can try, pull down posters, disturb the campaigns, and give people money. We, on the other hand, are winning hearts,” Makinde stated.

Despite his concerns, the APM candidate maintained that his political camp would remain focused on attracting Nigerians through its message rather than being distracted by alleged efforts to destabilise opposition parties.
His remarks come amid growing political manoeuvres and coalition-building ahead of the next general election.
