BREAKING: No Confusion, Osun Will Vote Accord Candidates, Tinubu For President — Adeleke

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has said voters in the state will support All Progressives Congress presidential candidate Bola Tinubu in the 2027 election while voting for Accord Party candidates in the National and State Assembly polls.

Adeleke said the arrangement would not cause confusion among voters despite the ‘Rainbow Coalition’ championed by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, to mobilise support for Tinubu’s re-election.

The governor spoke on Thursday in Ede while inaugurating the campaign committee for the re-election of the Osun West Senator, Lere Oyewumi, of the Accord Party. He was represented by his deputy, Kola Adewusi.

“On the rumour going around in town about ‘Rainbow Coalition,’ don’t let that give us any headache. Let me state again that we are only going to vote for the All Progressives Congress in the presidential election only.

“The National and State Assembly elections will be for the Accord Party. There should be no confusion among the voters,” he said.

Adeleke described Oyewumi, who is the Deputy Minority Leader in the Senate, as a quality representative with an enviable record of service.

He said the senator’s performance had made his re-election easier and urged members of the campaign committee to work hard to secure victory for the party.

“I want to appeal to the members of the campaign committee to work hard and ensure the victory of Senator Lere Oyewumi. There is nothing like 99.9 per cent loyalty. Your loyalty should be 100 per cent,” he said.

In his remarks, Oyewumi attributed Accord’s growing acceptance in Osun to Adeleke’s leadership and performance, saying the governor’s re-election showed that residents supported him.

“Adeleke is a pathfinder, and his re-election has shown that Osun people love him, and that love will translate to victory for all Accord Party candidates in the general election,” he said.

Oyewumi said his experience in the Senate had better prepared him to serve the people of Osun West, promising further infrastructure and social development, including better roads, improved schools and hospitals, clean water and solar streetlights.

The Director-General of the campaign committee, Adesoye Oyetunde, also praised the senator’s performance, claiming he had tarred roads in eight of the district’s 10 local government areas, while construction had been flagged off in the remaining two.

He added that Oyewumi had built classrooms across Osun West and supported constituents through healthcare interventions and farm inputs.

Adeleke defected from the Peoples Democratic Party to the Accord Party in December 2025.

Adeleke’s support for Tinubu has attracted attention because the governor secured re-election on the platform of the Accord Party in August, defeating the APC candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, in Osun State.

Despite the political rivalry between their parties, Adeleke reaffirmed his support for Tinubu’s second-term bid shortly after his victory, saying his endorsement was based on the President being a Yoruba man from the South-West and his desire for Tinubu to continue infrastructure projects in the region.
