Police Foil Bandit Attack on Sabuwa Town, Neutralize Suspect in Katsina State

In a proactive operation, police operatives in Katsina State successfully intercepted an imminent attack on Sabuwa town, the administrative headquarters of Sabuwa local government area. One suspected bandit was neutralized in the operation.

ASP Abubakar Aliyu, the police spokesperson, briefed the media on Thursday in Katsina, stating that the intervention occurred on April 17, 2024. Following received intelligence, the police were alerted to the presence of a group of suspected bandits, heavily armed with AK-47 rifles, riding motorcycles towards Sabuwa town with hostile intentions.

“They engaged the suspected bandits in a fierce gun duel. The team successfully foiled the planned attack.

“However, a member of the Community Watch Corps sustained a gunshot injury in his right leg and was rushed to the hospital, where he is currently receiving medical attention,” he said.

The PPRO revealed that in the course of scanning the scene, the body of one suspected bandit that was neutralised was recovered.

He added that one walkie-talkie and a hand grenade were also recovered from the scene.
